Activate your Xfinity device:

 Activate the Xfinity Stream Beta App on Roku

On your Roku, find out how to activate the Xfinity Stream Beta app via

  • Open the app from the Roku Channel Store’s Xfinity Channel and select sign in.
  • Note: Go to the “Streaming Channels” area on any Roku device’s main screen in the left-hand menu to access the Channel Store.
  • Sign In is at the top right of the app launch screen.
  • On your Roku or Roku-connected device, you’ll see the Activation Code screen.
  • From a different device, go to (like a mobile phone, tablet, or desktop – not from your Roku).

To fix this issue:

How to Activate Your Xfinity Internet Service

  • Download the Xfinity app to get online and set up your Internet in minutes, with real-time support if you need it. It’s the most convenient way to connect.
  • If you’re replacing an existing device in your home, ensure it’s turned off before proceeding with the activation steps below.

If You Have an xFi Gateway or You Purchased Your Own Approved Modem/Router:

  • The Xfinity app makes it simple to activate an xFi Gateway or an approved modem/router (download via the App Store or Google Play).
  • The Arris X5001 xFi Fiber Gateway can only be activated by a professional installer.
  • It can not do it through the Xfinity app.
  • Look at the bottom of your gateway to see which model you have.
  • If you aren’t prompted to activate after signing into the Xfinity app, go to the Account icon in the top-left corner of the Overview tab and select Activate xFi Gateway or Modem under the Devices section.

If You Have Xfinity Voice or Live in a WiFi Ready Apartment:

Follow the steps below to activate Xfinity Voice service without Xfinity Internet, activate a pre-installed Xfinity Gateway in your WiFi-Ready apartment, or if your mobile device doesn’t support the Xfinity app.

Place your gateway or modem in the first position:

  • Locate the most centrally located cable outlet in your home.
  • Keep your gateway or modem away from exterior walls, metal surfaces, microwaves, and windows.
  • Avoid crowded areas and anything that could interfere with the device’s signal.

Set Up Your Gateway:

  • Connect the power cord to the back of your gateway before plugging it into an outlet.
  • Connect one end of the coaxial cable to your gateway or modem’s cable In/RF In port and the other end to the cable wall outlet.
  • Double-check that this connection is finger-tight.
  • If you have Xfinity Voice, use a telephone cord to connect your phone to the Tel 1 connection on your gateway or modem.

 Modem or gateway to be ready:

  • Before moving on to the next step, double-check that the lights appear as described below.
  • During this procedure, do not unplug your gateway or modem.
  • If your Xfinity Gateway has multiple lights on the front, the Power, US/DS, and Online lights should stay solid for at least one minute before the 2.4 GHz, and 5 GHz lights blink.
  • If your Xfinity Gateway only has one light on top, it should stay solid white for at least one minute.
  • If you have a third-party modem, follow the manufacturer’s instructions to find out when it’s time to activate it.

Connect to the Internet temporarily:

The next step is to connect to the Internet, either via WiFi or an Ethernet cable:

  •  Connect via WiFi (if your gateway/modem supports it)
  • Look on the side, back, or bottom of your gateway or modem for the Network Name (SSID) and Password. XFSETUP-XXXXXXX.
  • Select the Network Name from the list of available networks in your WiFi settings.
  • When prompted, type the password.
  • If you’re asked for a PIN rather than a password, click the Connect Using a Security Key link and type the password in the Security Key field.

Use an Ethernet cable to connect:

  • Until it clicks, plug the Ethernet cable into one of the open ports on your gateway or modem.
  • Connect the other end to your computer’s Ethernet port.
  • When the Ethernet port is successfully connected, it will light up.

Turn on your modem or gateway:

  • If you don’t see a welcome message to begin set up after you’ve established a temporary Internet connection, open a web browser and go to
  • Verify your Xfinity account and complete the activation process by following the onscreen prompts.

Establish a connection to your home network:

  • If your gateway or modem supports a wireless connection, connect your devices to your WiFi name and password for your home network after activation.
  • Your previously connected devices should automatically reconnect if you replaced your Xfinity Gateway and kept the same settings during activation.
  •  Go to your WiFi-enabled devices’ WiFi settings.
  • You can connect your devices to your home network once your WiFi name appears on a list of available networks.
  • Type in the name of your home WiFi network and the password to connect.
  • If you changed it during the activation process, make sure to use the new one you created.
  • The built-in Xfinity WiFi home hotspot (xfinity wifi) on Xfinity Gateways may take up to 24 hours to broadcast. Questions about the Xfinity WiFi Home Hotspot can help you learn more about the device.

Activate the Device in Your Getting Started Kit

  • Installation and activation instructions are included in every Getting Started kit. You can be found in your Xfinity folder.

Using an App, Activate Your Equipment Online

  • You can use the Xfinity app to activate Xfinity xFi Pods or an Xfinity xFi Gateway (except for the Arris X5001).
  • After you’ve completed the setup, you can manage your home network with the Xfinity app.
  • Check the make and model information on the bottom of your device to figure out what kind of gateway you have.
  • Sign in to My Account and choose Devices from the drop-down menu.
  • Get the Xfinity app from Google Play or the App Store for free.
  •  Enter your Xfinity ID and password to log in.
  • You can create one from the sign-in page if you don’t already have one.
  • If you’re activating a gateway, you may be prompted to begin the activation process as soon as you log in.
  • Proceed to step 3 if you are not prompted.
  •  From the top-left corner of the Xfinity app’s Overview tab, select the Account icon once you’ve signed in.
  • In the Devices section, click Activate xFi Gateway or Modem.
  • If you’re activating xFi Pods, go to the Devices section and select Activate xFi Pods.

Activate Your Equipment Through the Internet

You can easily activate your equipment online if you’re signing up for Xfinity Internet, Voice, or any TV service other than X1.

  • Turn on your Internet, voice, and television equipment.

Using the Xfinity App to Activate Your Modem

  • As long as your modem or gateway is eligible, you can use the Xfinity app to activate it.
  • To see if your device is compatible with Xfinity services, go to the My Device Info website.

  • Download the Xfinity app for free from the Apple App Store or Google Play before you begin.

Getting Your Modem or Gateway to Work

  • Log in to the Xfinity app with your Xfinity ID and password. 
  • After you’ve found an Internet connection, you’ll be prompted to begin the activation process.
  • Connect the Coax cable via activate cable box to an active cable outlet in your home and the back of your modem, making sure both connections are finger tight.

Important Note:-If you have Xfinity Voice, after connecting your coax cable, you should also connect your phone cord from the back of your phone receiver to the back of the modem.

  • Connect your modem’s power cord to a wall outlet.
  • Type in the 12-digit MAC address of your modem.
  • You’ll be prompted to Check Your Connection once your modem is connected to a coax cable in an active outlet and the power cord is plugged into an electrical outlet.
  • They will activate your modem with Xfinity service once you’ve connected.
  •  Your Xfinity Voice number (s) in the success message if you have Xfinity Voice and your modem activation and provisioning were successful.
  • If you don’t have Xfinity Voice, It will confirm without a phone number. 
  • Once your modem is activated, you can use the Xfinity app to view payment details, access Xfinity Assistant for account concerns, run speed tests on the device you’re using, and restart your modem.
