The popularity of the streaming channel Disney Plus can be understood by the fact that more and more are willing to pay for its subscription. However, not all can afford a subscription. So, to enable its users to view the content, Disney has recently launched a cheaper Disney Plus subscription, however, that includes ads meaning that users will have to pay the price in terms of watching advertisements.
The announcement made by Disney on the Cheaper Disney Plus Subscription
In their announcement, Disney stated that they are launching the cheaper Disney Plus subscription which will be available in the US by late 2022, however, confirmed launch dates have not been disclosed yet. They also informed us that the cheaper subscription will include advertisements. Disney also has plans to expand its cheaper subscriptions worldwide. With this step, Disney is planning to reach 230-260 Million customers across the world by the fiscal year 2024.
Karim Danie, Disney’s President of Media and Entertainment distribution, said in a statement “Expanding the reach of Disney Plus to a wider audience at a lower cost is a win-win for all – consumers, advertisers and our storytellers. More consumers will be able to access our amazing content. Advertisers will be able to reach a wider audience, And our storytellers will be able to share their incredible work with more fans and families,”
Rita Ferro, Disney Media’s president of advertising and entertainment distribution said, “Since its launch, advertisers have been seeking the opportunity to be part of Disney+, and not simply because there is increasing demand for more streaming inventory. Disney+ With advertising from our most beloved brands, Disney, Pixar, Star Wars, Marvel Movies, and National Geographic. I can’t wait to share more with advertisers in advance.”
Since its launch in late 2019, Disney Plus has had an abundance of original content from Lucasfilm Studio and Marvel Studios and has a vast content library across the US and the world. It has also acquired the streaming rights of the canceled shows of Netflix including Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., adding more to their already vast library.
The current Disney Plus subscription costs $7.99 if you subscribe for one month while it costs $79.99 if you subscribe for a year. Disney Plus is not the only service of Disney that will have advertisements included, Hulu, another service owned by Disney, is also an ad supporting platform that is available for $6.99 for a month or $69.99 for a year. Other than Disney, HBO Max owned by Warner Media is also an ad-supporting platform available at $9.99 per month.
After the launch of the cheaper Disney Plus subscription, users will be able to subscribe to Disney Plus without having to think much about the cost.
