The much-awaited film Dhurandhar: The Revenge has finally released in theatres on March 19 and is already creating a huge buzz. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is the sequel to the blockbuster Dhurandhar, which earlier performed extremely well at the box office.
The movie features Ranveer Singh in the lead role along with Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi in key roles. This time, the story mainly revolves around Ranveer Singh, making it a complete one-man show.
The story begins after the death of Rehman Dakait. Jaskirat Singh Rangi, played by Ranveer Singh, transforms into Hamza Ali Mazari and rises in Pakistan’s underworld. At the same time, he secretly works as an undercover agent for India. The film shows his dangerous journey, where he destroys terror networks while sacrificing his personal life and emotions.
One of the biggest talking points of the film is its runtime of 3 hours 49 minutes, which is even longer than the first part. The first half is fast, engaging, and full of action. It starts with a powerful opening sequence and quickly builds excitement. The rise of Hamza in Lyari and his control over power is shown in a gripping way.
However, the second half feels stretched and slow. Some scenes are repetitive, and the long climax reduces the overall impact. Because of this, the film loses some of its strong hold in the later part.
Ranveer Singh delivers an outstanding performance and is the biggest highlight of the film. He perfectly balances action, emotion, and intensity. His performance is getting massive praise online, with many fans calling it award-worthy.
R. Madhavan plays a strong supporting role and adds depth to the story. Sanjay Dutt and Arjun Rampal also impress with their powerful screen presence. Sara Arjun has limited screen time but performs well in emotional scenes.
One drawback of the film is the absence of a strong villain like the first part. Earlier, the character of Rehman Dakait created tension, but in this sequel, that impact feels missing. The film also becomes slightly loud with heavy action and political elements.
On the technical side, the film is impressive. The background music is powerful, and the cinematography is stylish and grand. However, editing could have been sharper to reduce the film’s length.
At the box office, the film has taken a massive start. It earned around ₹44 crore from paid previews and is expected to cross ₹100 crore on its opening day. The film had record-breaking advance bookings and a huge number of shows worldwide.
Overall, Dhurandhar 2 is a big-scale action thriller with strong performances and grand visuals. But its long runtime and slow second half make it slightly less impactful. It is a must-watch for action lovers, but patience is required to enjoy the full experience.
